Overview of the Cisco Certified Voice Professional program

The Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) program is a professional certification program designed to recognize and validate the skills and knowledge of voice professionals. Through this certification, professionals can demonstrate their competency in deploying, maintaining and troubleshooting a comprehensive voice network. It also provides organizations with assurance that their employees are qualified and equipped with the skills necessary to develop, operate and maintain voice-based communications systems. The CCVP requires passing six tests, which cover topics such as unified communications, IP telephony, QoS, gateway protocols and gateways, network media resources and Cisco Expressway series. Upon successful completion of the tests, individuals will be awarded the CCVP designation.

The requirements for becoming a CCVP

In order to become a Cisco Certified Voice Professional, you must have a valid Cisco CCNA Voice certification and also pass four exams – 642-437 CVOICE, 642-447 CIPT1, 642-457 CIPT2 and 642-427 TVoice. You must also have a minimum of two years of experience in voice technology, including IP telephony, voice messaging, mobility and video. Experience in configuring, implementing, troubleshooting and maintaining Cisco Unified Communications solutions is essential. In addition to this, the CCVP certification requires you to understand VoIP technologies, QoS, gateways and gatekeepers, CUCM, Cisco IOS for Voice, Cisco Unified Contact Center Express and Survivable Remote Site Telephony.
